Robert Appleby Obituary
(September 27, 1951 to June 20, 2015)
Was a long time resident of San Francisco, California. Rob died at St. Luke's Hospital in San Francisco following a prolonged illness.A graduate of the University of California at Berkeley, Rob was a scholar, consummate professional, wonderful husband and father to his sons. His love of life and all of its allure and mystery was a driving force in his life. He traveled with his wife widely and enjoyed the fruits of culture, literature, music, food and wine as well as enjoying flyfishing. He was an enthusiastic fan of soccer and baseball.
He is survived by his wife Winifred King Appleby and their two sons, Charles (Megan) and Foster and his "adopted" son David Arce and his granddaughter Sophia. His three brothers David, Preston and John also mourn his death.
Donations in memory of Rob may be made to the San Francisco Ballet or the Wounded Warrior Project.
