Robert Cannon Obituary

Robert Rowe Cannon
December 25, 1935 - June 10, 2021
Robert (Bob) Rowe Cannon, age 85, died June 10, 2021, peacefully at home in his sleep. Born in San Jose to parents Earl and Winnifred Cannon, he attended Oakland Technical High school, and graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a BS in 1957 and a MBA in 1958. He was a proud member of Acacia fraternity as a student and continued involvement with the group for many years. He is predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Jean Cannon, and is survived by his daughter Constance (Cannon) Jones, and spouse Mark Jones; son Robert Rowe Cannon Junior, and spouse Melinda Cannon; and grandchildren Stuart Burke-Jones and spouse Amy Burke-Jones; and Robert Jones.
Bob worked for 24 years as Assistant Vice Chancellor, Business and Fiscal Services, at University of California San Francisco. He relished sharing his funny UCSF work stories with friends and family. He also took child-like pleasure in trains and classic cars. In younger (adult) years he could be found lying on the floor watching his model trains go whizzing by for hours. He could also instantly name the year and model of any car built from the 1940s through the mid-1960s. Bob was a huge Cal football and basketball fan, taking his family to home football games for years. To get everyone amped up before the game, Bob would play Cal marching band music very loudly on the phonograph and emulate the drum major's march around the living room. Bob loved telling stories, being with his friends and family, his pets, and cookies!
A celebration of his life, along with his wife's life, will be held at a future date.
