I am a physician colleague of Bob's. I had worked with him intermittently for maybe 25 years. He and I participated in a very early health reform List on the internet back in 1993, called Healthre and we had been on the radio talk shows together discussing the woes of health care. He was spectacularly tenacious in trying to give useful medical guidance to folks who contacted this group on the Net. He spent many months researching the case of a Chinese woman who appeared to be poisoned, for political reasons, by heavy metal. I was amazed at the energy he gave without compensation in trying t help this woman. I had great respect for Bob and he was very likeable.
I did not realize he was struggling with his health. In fact, I was thinking, where is Bob?
You are already missed Bob and RIP. Best wishes and love to Ilene.

I first met Bob in 1968 when my then-wife struck up a friendship with another young mother wheeling a stroller. It turns out that Bob and I had a friend in common in Baltimore, and that we had worked at the same radio station. Now we lived around the corner from each other. There were many other commonalities, and we remained close friends for many years. We were frequent guests in each other's homes. I will always remember him fondly.

I came to know Dr. Fink through his volunteer work on an online brain tumor email list in the late 1990s. He was an incredibly patient, compassionate, knowledgeable man. Through his online work, he helped thousands of people when they needed him most. Although he and I never met, I will be forever grateful that our paths crossed online.
