Robert Shea Obituary

Robert Hilary Shea
September 4, 1959 - September 13, 2021
SHEA, Robert Hilary, age 62, formerly of Burlingame, passed away September 13, 2021, in San Francisco, California.

Bob was born in San Mateo, California. He was the fifth and youngest son of James and Eleanor Shea. Bob graduated from Mills High School and the University of California, Irvine, where he was a member of the crew team. After graduation, Bob moved to Washington D.C. where he worked for the Veterans Administration. He later moved to San Francisco.

Bob was a fun-loving guy. He was handsome, charismatic, athletic, and very witty. He loved adventure and spending time with his family and friends in Monterey and Lake Tahoe. He had an iron will and persevered through many hardships. He will remain in our hearts forever.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents James and Eleanor Shea, his brothers Ronald Shea and Lt. Jim Shea, USN Vietnam. He is survived by his brother Tom (JoAnne) Shea and brother Jerry (Carol) O'Shea. He is remembered by ten nieces and nephews, many great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins and extended family.

The family would like to thank the courageous people who cared for Bob in his final days, including the staff of the ICU unit of the Priscilla Chan and Mark Zuckerberg General Hospital, staff of the Chinese Hospital, and staff at the OTOP at San Francisco General Hospital. In lieu of a memorial the family asks for your prayers.

Bobby was a good friend of mine and will be missed.
He had a gift of story telling that made you feel as though you were experiencing the events yourself.
He was a genuine, caring and most of all funny guy.
Bobby made a point of befriending even the most unloved without a second thought.
He had a deep respect for the value of each and every individual and knew that we are all God´s children, no matter our backgrounds or choices.
This knowledge came through in the ways he treated his friends.
People were not strangers to Bob, they were friends he had yet to meet.
The world is a lesser place without Bobby Shea in it.
I will always cherish my memories and chats with Bobby. It was a privilege to call him my friend.

Love and miss you always Bobby.
