Roberta Hann Obituary

Roberta B. Hann Age 86, died Friday, January 15, 2010. Born atop a bluff in Oregon City, Oregon, a paper mill town on the Willamette River at the end of the Oregon Trail, she was the only daughter of good, hardworking Christian parents, Stanley & Grace Reddaway. Her American heritage dates back to Colonial Virginia. She put herself through college at Oregon State University, Corvallis, where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Home Economics in 1947. In the early 1950s she lived in New York City and worked at Memorial Hospital in the personnel department. She moved to San Francisco in 1956. She worked for Leslie Salt Co. and Hamm's Brewing as a secretary. She retired from Sperry & Hutchinson Company (S&H Green Stamps) after 20 years as secretary to the personnel director. She leaves behind her adoring and devoted daughter, Hilary Hann of San Francisco who will love her immensely forever, a loving sister-like cousin Vera Benfield of Gladstone, Ore. and dear friends Joan, Gloria & Betty. A single, self-supporting parent, she was a loyal, generous, caring and loving mother to Hilary. Roberta was drawn to the lovelier things of life: pretty flowers & trees, the ocean, a lively Sinatra tune, a kind soul, Impressionist art, engaging books and a good cocktail. She was strong, responsible, independent and attractive with a wonderful sense of humor. She took pride in being an upstanding citizen and a good person. A memorial mass celebrating her life will be held Saturday, January 23 at 2 p.m., St. John of God Catholic Church, 5th & Irving Streets, San Francisco.

Dearest Hilary, What a beautiful, loving tribute to your mom. Even though our time knowing her was so very short, she made us so happy when we saw her at the hospice. She always gave us that beautiful smile, a smile that truly showed the beauty she had within her. She will live forever in your heart. Always know that her loving presence is with you. All our love-----Karen and Tony, Alan, Darlene, Mike, and Jenn
