Roberta "Bobbi" Shaw

Roberta "Bobbi" Shaw Passed away peacefully into her next life on March 18, 2006, in Monterey, CA, one of her favorite places. She is the loving daughter of Julian Joseph Gutierrez and the late Sylvia Dodge; loving sister of Rachel Gutierrez and John Dodge; survived by many friends. During her life, Bobbi wore many different hats. She had careers as a dancer and dance instructor, both in the Bay Area and the southern states; a bartender; and last as proprietor of Cheers Tavern on Mission St., SF. While these were her jobs, Bobbi's ultimate talent was in making and fostering friendships. She knew, befriended and cared for more people than any one person could keep track of. Yet she did. She had a special place in her heart for doormen, waiters, waitresses and bartenders. Her passion for dancing led her to the salsa and the Latin jazz scene in the Bay Area, where her inspiration and encouragement of dance partners, other dancers and the countless musicians made her an irreplaceable asset. She managed all this with the combination of wit, grace, style, and brashness we have come to know as flagrant flamboyance. Bobbi's family and friends are invited to visit Thursday, March 23, 2006 after 4:00pm and are invited to attend a celebration of her life at 7:00pm at DUGGAN'S SERRA MORTUARY, 500 Westlake Ave., Daly City. Cremation and scattering will follow at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bobbi's name to the Community Hospital of Monterey Peninsula, P.O.
