Roger Woodward Maslin
Roger, 79, of Petaluma, CA died on Thursday, August 23, at Windsor Care in Petaluma, after a long struggle with Parkinson's.
Roger was born in Berkeley, CA on May 29, 1933 to Mary and Marshall Maslin. He attended Berkeley schools and graduated from Cogswell Polytechnical College in San Francisco, where he served as president of both the honor society and the student body. After graduation he took his first job in Santa Rosa with Fluor Wood Products as a sales engineer.
Roger enjoyed a long career as Laboratory Director for several geotechnical engineering firms in the Bay Area, retiring in 1998 from Giblin Associates.
He served two years in the Army, one of which was spent in Korea.
A loving and devoted husband and father, Roger is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marilyn; daughters Mary (John) Lloyd, Laura (Doug) Bradley, and Molly (Bill) Arbogast; grandchildren Chloe and Duncan Bradley and Liam Arbogast; a sister, Joan; and a niece and nephew.
He is predeceased by his parents, and sister Anne Dorst.
Roger's greatest joys were his family and friends, especially at Echo Lake, where he excelled at water skiing, Echo Ball, Gomoku, and horseshoes. He was also known for his wicked table tennis skills and smooth basketball moves. Roger rarely took a vacation, but loved puttering around his garage, house and cabin. His twinkling eyes, devilish dimples and quick wit will be missed.
A celebration of his life, with family and friends, is planned for later in the year.
