Russell, my loving sympathy, but you're now in a very peaceful place. I just heard of your passing and could feel my spiritual attachment to you. I'll never forget our exciting generous kind sweet loving five years together in the 70s and setting up SOMA. You were a very special loving person to everyone, but especially
to the Filipino community.
You will forever be cherished and missed. I
Love you......

To the Robles Family,

I worked with Russell as a lifeguard for many years. We formed a bond upon our first meeting, and our discussions would always center around martial arts. I miss our conversations and would have liked to see him more. My condolences to your family!

It has been my privilege to be a part of Russell's aqua swim class since 2000. I will always miss his "LOUD" voice telling us to keep moving to the rhythms of his wonderful Hawaiian music. He was truly a special soul. I owe my longevity and good health to his class. You are greatly missed.

I am so very saddened by the news of Russell's passing! I was a fairly new member of the COM aquatics class he taught @ IVC, but I quickly fell in love with his enthusiasm & sense of humor. He made class so much fun. His family & colleagues are in my Prayers & thoughts. He will be deeply missed!

I was shocked and deeply saddened to learn of Russell's passing! I came to know him as a member of his aqua exercise class, and as a teaching colleague at the college. It was truly a pleasure to know Russell, to be part of his classes -- which he made so much fun -- and to know him as a fellow instructor. A great guy and friend. My sincerest condolences to his family.

It was a privilege to be in Russell's sphere, to share his energy and life philosophy. I would have loved to have had more time with him, but the moments we did share I cherish. I will be forever grateful for the love he shared with my childhood friend, Fredda and their lovely daughter, Alana Rose.

My beloved brother-in-law, Russell, whom I have known since I was sixteen years old. You were always warm and welcoming to everone, a committed lifeguard, a voice of reason, a leader, and oh so smart. I have many fond memories and photos of you at family gatherings and at the pool. To the Robles family, Pete and I send our deep condolences to you as you reconcile your grief at the loss of your husband, brother, uncle, and grandpa. Our love and prayers are with you.

Always,

Flo & Pete Mayberry

Russell was an incredibly warm-hearted, spiritual and supportive man. I was lucky to be in his College of Marin aqua exercise class for several years. He had the best and loudest whistle I've ever heard. It kept us moving! I will miss his wonderful music mixes that inspired and entertained his classes. Even more, I will miss his encouragement to be kind, healthful, and have a "cup of tea". Russell knew what was important. The world is a better place because of him. I share my sincere condolences with his family and friends.
