Soren was one of 17 students in a class on Aging and the Media at USC. We were so shocked and saddened by his death so soon after we last saw him. We conducted a memorial tribute to him in class this past week. Everyone spoke of his kindness, contagious smile, intellect. Indeed as the obituary states, we did acknowledge that he was often late to class, but seemed to always have and excellent grasp on the material. He asked insightful questions and was an excellent communicator. While we knew him only 14 weeks, or 28 class sessions, he left an indelible lasting impact on those in our class. His friendships were far reaching across the USC community at large. We send our care, condolences and strength to all his loved ones at this most difficult time.

I did not know Soren but my kid went to school with him (fellow class of 2023) and said that while they were not close friends, "Soren was a super cool guy." My heart breaks for his parents, siblings, friends. Please know the community (including those you never met) are grieving. Peace be with you. Parents all know how impossibly tragic this is.
