STANLEY MEEHAN

Stanley Meehan MEEHAN, S. William "Bill" - Of San Francisco, July 27, 2012. Born May 29,1922 in his beloved San Francisco to John and Minnie Meehan. Husband of the late Nadine for 55 years; father of Pamela Moulton (Ken), Jeff, Terri, Sheila (Douglas), Sean (Susana) and grandfather to precious Chloe and Teo. Predeceased by brothers, Thomas, Jack and Lawrence. He was a graduate of Commerce High, completed 3 years at SF Law School, was a U.S. Merchant Marine Academy King's Point graduate (1944), earning his B.A. in 1987. He proudly sailed during WWII as Chief Mate. Bill owned and operated Meehan Battery in So. SF for 50 years. A member and past President of SSF Rotary, he spearheaded the development of the Rotary Plaza Retirement Community. He was awarded Outstanding Citizen of SSF in 1971, and was a member of the Olympic Club for over 40 years. Upon retirement, he attended The Fromm Institute at USF for Creative Writing, earning many stories in the Rooftop Publication. An accomplished but humble writer, he would happily share his "O'Henry" type stories, whether you liked it or not. His last years were spent in Sonoma County in order to be closer to his daughters. In his memory, pour a scotch and soda, sit in your favorite chair and be as irreverent as you wish. He will be right beside you. Private internment. A Celebration of Life is planned for August 18th.
