We all knew him by his proper name, Fige. Fige is my cousin and good close friend we are only a few months apart. He was a real craftsman, that was some nice hardwood finish work at Bob's place. We were close as children, Fige made sure we were all welcome and included. I shall miss you, Fige.

What a shock! It is so hard to lose a long time friend and good neighbor. Steve was always so helpful to my family in the years after my husband's death. I hope he knew how we appreciated his being there for us. OUr lives were richer for having known him.

I knew Stephen only as the young son of Professor May Diaz, my colleague and friend in the Anthropology Department at U. C. Berkeley for many years. I remember his frequent visits to his Mom's office in Kroeber Hall to get spending money. I am so sorry to hear of his death. My condolences to his family.

My memories of Steve go back 50 years. I still remember making him cry as a small boy. I was swinging on a rope from the Eucalyptus tree by your house and fell on Steve's fire truck. He was probably about 4 years old.
I can still hear Steve laughing at my parents house on Christmas Day and will always remember his wonderful, smiling face. We will miss you, Steve.
