Thinking of you this week. Two of your great-grandchildren are graduating this year: Kat from high school and Sabrina from elementary school. I will be graduating from grad school. When I look at old photos, I am glad that you got to meet my children. They may not remember you, but I will always be prepared to share memories and stories of you.

Love,

Ron

I miss and think about you all the time. I miss all the hugs and wet kisses you gave us on our cheeks when we said our goodbyes. I miss making you your coffee in the mornings and going to McDonald's once a week for egg McMuffins or the weekly Chinese lessons, which I wasn't good at, but you patiently continued to help me learn the language. So many good memories that I will always value and cherish. Thank you for everything you have done for me. I know you and Mom are there with Grandpa and Auntie Julie. Hope you're resting well. Love you Grandma!

Just thinking about you lately because of everything going on, and asking questions about how you would handle or react to certain situations. Sabrina, your youngest great-grandchild, is so calm and peaceful like you were. I wish I was the same.

Dear grandma,

It has been one year since you passed, and so many things have happened since then. I graduated from the Army's Officer Candidate School in 2010. Shortly after returning, I found a letter you wrote to me in 1997 encouraging me to become an officer. Well, I finally did it.

This past January we welcomed the birth of Sabrina, your great-granddaughter. She has definitely filled the void from our losses this past year.

Although I wish you were still with us to celebrate both my commissioning and Sabrina's birth, I take comfort in believing that somewhere up there you're with grandpa, and all our uncles and aunties we've lost throughout the years.

By the end of next week, I will graduate from another military school. I know that I'll be thinking of you when I cross the stage, and I know you'll be watching from heaven.

Love,

Ron

Dear mom/ grandma,

We love you so dearly and truly miss you since you left us on Sunday, April 11, 2010. You have always been the core of our lives.

When you married dad on July 15, 1940, you left your days of work to be a wife, mother, and friend to all you knew and cared for in life. You never divulged private conversations you had with anybody. You took care of all your children, and gave them all the love you could have ever given as a loving, respectful, sincere, and honest mother. You guided us when we needed your support, you taught us right from wrong, and you gave us the strength to set, pursue, and achieve our ambitious goals.

Mom, your legendary love to me has given me the most profound understanding of life's social values. You and I have shared many private moments reminiscing about things we kept between us. Today, some of these moments will always remain private and in my heart.

Grandma, you have given me so much love and you even tried to teach me some basic words in Chinese. In my heart, I will remember your love for coffee and how you made me make another cup for you because the one I made had too much cream. You said it was too brown. I love you so much.

You will always be dear to our hearts and will never forget that your favorite song was Elvis Presley's, "Love Me Tender." Mom/ grandma, we will always "Love You Tender."

Loving you always from our hearts,

Jennifer and Barbara

Your Memories Live In Our Hearts

Smiles, kisses and, hugs were gifts that you brought,
Unconditionally loving your family to brighten our thoughts.
Never complaining about anything; enjoying whatever life would bring.

You left me a lot of memories that I will never forget,
Especially those weekly Chinese lessons that I didn't seem to get.
Even though I struggled with characters and tone; you always sat by my side and wouldn't let me be denied.

Keep persevering is what you taught, as I struggled through math which I didn't like a lot.
Open your book is what you said to me; let me guide you through this class, and you will achieve.
Opening my eyes to the best I can give, changed my outlook in life and the way I lived.

Jump in the car were on a road trip to Reno; counting down those miles as we got closer to those casinos.
Opening your purse for a special snack; was it going to be Sen-Sen, Sugus, Haw Flakes or Tic-Tacs?
Nothing will replace the glittering gleam that I saw in your eyes, as you watched those slot machine reels spinning on by;
Getting a jackpot was thrilling to see, as you sat there watching the counter adding up to eternity. The laughter and joy that flowed from your heart, will live on now in ours while we are apart.

Grandma,

I wanted to thank you for all of the wonderful memories that I got to share with you. I will never forget these: the wet kisses on my cheek and the hugs that showed your unconditional love; running up and down the long hallway at your house playing with my cousins; your coffee that you let me make for you; the road trips up to Reno; the Chinese lessons that you gave me and patiently sat by my side until I got it right; the weekly ordering of Mickey's Beef Chow Fun or Church's Chicken; the tic-tacs, haw flakes, or other yummy snacks that you carried in your purse while going up to Reno; the numerous amount of time that you helped me on my Geometry homework; the time that you helped me write cheer votes for a high school radio station contest; the times we use to sit on your bed together and watch television; the family dinners Lyon's; watching you play the slot machines in Reno and seeing your eyes light up when the reels were spinning or when you won a jackpot and your love for chicken.

I am grateful to have shared so many wonderful memories with you. Thank you so much for staying by my side and pushing me to keep persevering and not give up, to give everything that I conquer in life the best and accept nothing less. You have given me warmth and a lot of memories that I will never forget but most of all you have given me your unconditional love.

Letting go and saying goodbye is the hardest thing to do, but I know you are in a better place with Grandpa looking down and smiling at us. Thanks again Grandma for teaching me to be the best that I can be and giving me all of these memories that I can pass down and share with my family and friends in the future.

I love you and will miss you Grandma.

Rest in peace.

Love,

Stephanie Quock

Dear grandma,

I want to thank you for being such a wonderful person and for all the kisses and hugs you have given me. I will always remember your home as a place of warmth and comfort, and a place where the whole family gathered to see you and to be together. From everything I remember, I will remember these: kisses and hugs before I entered the house and before I left, your smile and your voice saying "hi" when you answered the door after I rang the doorbell several times, the hundreds of times you sat me down to do my Chinese lessons, sitting at the dinner table with you and eating orange slices and other snacks you bought, making your coffee and letting me stir the sugar and creamer into it, the many car trips to Reno and stays at the Ace motel, the hundreds of times we ate Chinese food we ordered from Mickey's, letting me sit down at your vanity and put Pond's Cold Cream and your powder on my face, the many dinners at Lyon's, the smell of your Charley perfume, the Sen Sen, Tic-Tacs, and Trident gum you carried in your purse, your fried chicken , the many letters you sent to me while I was in the Army, and the many times you dried my tears when I was little.

As you can see you have given me a lot and you have never asked for anything in return. Most of all you have given me the gift of love. Now, it's time to let you go to a place where you're happy and with grandpa.

I know that the next time I walk into your house, I will still hear your voice calling my name and saying hello, and then feeling the awkwardness of silence. I will recall the smell of your perfume and then realize that I do not hear your footsteps coming down the hallway. However, you will live on in my memory and through the many wonderful stories I will share about you with my children.

Rest well grandma. I love you and will miss you.

Love,

Ronald Quock, A.K.A. "Ronnie"
