Thomas C. Merigan

Thomas C. Merigan 1909-2006 A dearly beloved grandfather, father, husband, brother, uncle and friend passed away peacefully at his San Francisco home on November 14, 2006. A 78-year resident of The City, Tom was born in Fowler, California of Armenian survivors of the genocide - Violet Thomas and Garabed Mirigian. Tom was the husband and life partner of Helen Greeley Merigan who predeceased him in 2000. Tom is survived by his sister Violet Goorigian and her husband Greg Goorigian; his son Dr. Thomas C. Merigan Jr. and his wife Dr. Joan Merigan; his daughter Helen McKenna Ridley and her husband Allan Ridley. He is the special grandfather, "Fafa", to Thomas C. Merigan III, Michael V. McKenna and his wife Renee McKenna, Christopher A. Ridley and his wife Julie Ridley and the loving great-grandfather to Elizabeth Ridley, James McKenna, Andrew Thomas Ridley and Genevieve McKenna. Tom was an amazingly gifted man, a caring pharmacist at Pacific Heights Pharmacy where generations benefited from his wisdom, humor, guidance and service. As a young man, Tom excelled in athletics, lettering in football, track, basketball and baseball. The family wishes to thank his care-givers, Dinah Montero and Randy Mendoza who made his last years comfortable by giving him the best loving care. Tom was one of the old school - kind, generous, fair and an inspiration to all who knew him. He will be deeply missed. There will be a private Celebration of Tom's Life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to UC Pharmacy School Scholarship Fund or the San Francisco Botanical Garden Society in Golden Gate Park. "I shall not pass through this world but once.
