Tsutomu Ishisaki

Tsutomu Ben Ishisaki (Ben Ishi) June 28, 1924 - August 5, 2011 Beloved husband of Mary. Preceded in death by his brothers George and Glenn Ishisaki; sister-in-law Brooks Erikson; and brothers-in-law "Ziggy" Snyder and Roger Marnul. Survived by his sister Emiko Furuya; sisters-in-law: Nancy Ishisaki, Take Jan Ishisaki, and Elizabeth Marnul; brother-in-law John "Chris" Erikson (Cheryl); cherished uncle of Richard Ishisaki (Esther), Bernice Rael (Rick), Ronald Ishisaki (Dawn), Pauline Ishisaki (Edson Fong), Ben Ishisaki (Margaret), Joy Furuya, Philip Erikson, Victoria Hay (JB) and many grand nieces and nephews. Born in Fresno, CA, raised in Madera, CA, until the start of World War II when the family was sent to Fresno Assembly Center and then onto Jerome, AR Relocation Center. The family was later sent to the Tule Lake Segregation Center until the end of WWII. After the war, Ben returned to Madera for a short period of time then relocated to San Francisco. Ben was drafted into the Army in January 1949 and returned to San Francisco in the early 1950s. He was an excellent mechanic and eventually founded Ishi Limousine Inc. and, with the help of his wife Mary, he became a very successful businessman. Retiring to a life of travel, fishing and classic car collecting. Services will be held at the chapels of Valente Marini Perata & Co., 4840 Mission Street, SF, CA on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, a charitable donation may be made to Kimochi Inc. (kimochi-inc.org) or San Francisco Buddhist Church (bcsfweb.org).
