Victor F. Giannini Holding the hand of his wife Lynn, just as they did on the day they were married 59 years ago, Victor Frank Giannini passed away peacefully at home on May 27, 2007 three hours before his 80th birthday from pancreatic cancer. He was surrounded by his loving son Ken Giannini; daughters, Leslee Wright, Rori Giannini and Kati Giannini-Graham; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Giannini; sons-in-law, Joe Wright and Loren Graham and granddaughter, Cara Wright-Sweeney. Victor was continuously surrounded by his family during the nine months he courageously battled his illness. Victor was born to Rose and Frank Giannini on May 28, 1927 in San Francisco. Victor went to Balboa High School. Immediately after graduating from high school (June 1945) Victor joined the United States Navy. The war ended that year and Victor was released from service August 1946, returning to San Francisco and entered San Francisco City College where he met and fell in love with Lynn Krotoff. They were married June 27, 1948 at St. Paul's Church in San Francisco. Victor joined the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) in 1950 continuing his education and graduating from San Francisco State University and was an All State basketball guard. Serving the City proudly for over 20 years, Victor earned four meritorious awards; two-third class, one-second class and one-first class. He was well known for his tailored uniforms, wingtip shoes and carrying his pearl handled revolver. He was known by his peers as 'Pretty Boy Vic' and for his washboard abs. Victor also worked a second job at Marin Town and Country Club in Fairfax as Head Lifeguard and was well known as the coordinator for the Big Game on Court #1 where some serious talent competed to stay on the court. He was passionate about basketball, boxing and golf. After Victor retired from the SFPD he became the host of the world famous restaurant Ernie's in San Francisco; with his charismatic personality, good looks and infectious smile he was a perfect fit. Victor worked at Ernie's until retirement to the Desert in 1994. He was a member of the Santa Rosa Golf and Country Club. Victor spent hours in his back yard enjoying his garden, the warmth and energy from the sun and was often heard saying 'this is the most beautiful place in the world.' Victor is survived by his beloved wife Lynn; four children, Ken (Cheryl) Giannini, Leslee (Joe) Wright, Rori Giannini, and Kati (Loren) Graham. He was Nonno to 11 grandchildren Nina, Michael, Mia, Ryan, Dina, Cara, Joe, Dan, Kendall, Max, and Stacy and three great grandchildren, Austin, Leyton, and Tinley. He is also survived by loving cousins in Reno, NV, (Menante's, Guisti's, Figone's, Feretto's, Devincenzi's, Segale's, O'Sullivan's and many more) and by loving family in La Spezia, Pisa and Lake Como in Northern Italy. As a father, grandfather, and great grandfather he took great pride and joy in the lives and activities in each of them. He loved his family and his family thought of him as King, he will forever be in our hearts, memories and souls. A private family service was held on May 28, 2007. Victor will be inurned at Mountain View Cemetery in Reno, NV, at a later date.
