Mr. Hamilton has been a great role model for me all of my like. I met Scott and his family long before attending Kindergarden. Mr. Hamilton taught me to address elders as sir and maam. Never at my house, but always at his. He respected others and therefore received respect from me. My best memories were talking in the conversation pit and meeting George Shering. Also the time spent cleaning poop out of the dog pens at the "Guide Dogs for the Blind" in Marin. Mr. Hamilton was always involved with the community and this has served as an influence in my life.

I miss him dearly.

Anthony Sandberg sent this along to me. My memories of Willard are sailing with him, weekends at the Bohemian Grove with him and my father and the last time I saw him in Ashland a few years ago. What a great guy he was--fun loving and enjoying life to the fullest. He's probably doing that right now. Love and condolences to his family from Bill and Joanne.

One thing I love to do is get a rise out of people, especially those ones who look a little up tight sometimes. One very funny memory I have of just me and my grampa was when, I was no more than 5 or 6, and he came to clarkston Wa, for a visit and a little business probably. At the time I didnt know my left or right yet, maybe thats wierd, but i really didnt. And I was in the car with him and he thought I was going to help him with directions, he would call me the CO-PILOT. Well I sure didnt have 3 stripes, and didnt know left from right, and I remember doing laps around that town, until he was so ticked of I think he cracked a smile, and I was laughing so hard I probably cried. Just one of many memories, that will always stay with me, of my gramps. A unique guy who always kept me curious, and so interested in his life, from which he would share with me whenever I would visit.

I miss you with all my heart grampa, you were such a special guy, to me and to so many others.

So cheers to a great grandfather, a friend, and a guy who always kept a smile on my face.

It's been so many years since I last spent hours in the "conversation pit" talking with my best friend's dad. Lots of teenagers don't want to spend time talking to adults, and too few adults sacrifice the time to talk - I mean, really talk - with teenagers. And laugh. God, how I laughed with my friend's father. Sometimes, even when Scott was not around, we still talked and talked and talked - and laughed. What a wonderful person he was. What a wonderful role model he will always be.

I first met Will Hamilton in the mid 70's when I worked with Doug at Crivello's and subsequently dated his daughter Lelia. Will was a man of integrity and he loved to share his life stories with you. I will never forget the first time I was in the "den" speaking with him. Sometimes you felt that you would never leave the den once Will got you in there. He loved reading which was evident by the vast amount of books that were in the den. He also had a love for classical music. My first introduction to Tchaikovsky was at the Hamilton household. I must admit that I didn't appreciate it as much then but today when I hear Tchaikovsky, I do remember that Will Hamilton introduced me to his works. Will loved friendships and he had the opportunity to meet so many influential people in his life. He lived a full life. My prayers go out to Diane and to the kids Willard, Patty, Doug, Scott, and Lelia. Your dad was a great human being! God Bless

Love,

Chickie

Dear Hamilton Family,I was saddened to receive Lelia's call last week that Will had passed on. Aside from sharing a tent for about 20 years, Will was a close friend and mentor and my sponsor in the Club...he and my father were friends for well over 30 years. Will fought aall the variour physical problems he had with dignity and never a complaint. And too, he never spoke poorly of anyone. I will miss his stories, his counsel and his friendship. Dear Hamilton Family:

Mary Beth and I were saddened to hear of the passing of Uncle Will and offer our sympathy to you and his friends. Uncle Will reached out and kept in touch with us when his brother and my father Stu was ailing. He encouraged us to come out and visit some of the family and we were very happy to visit with Willard Jr., Scott and their families. Best wishes to all of you. We share in your loss but are grateful for the gifts he shared with us.

In sympathy,

Jim and Mary Beth Hamilton

Dear Hamilton Family -

I am very sad to hear about the passing of your Father and Husband. He was an extradonary man with a huge heart. In many ways he was bigger than life to me - a real star. I very much appreciate his warmth and enthusiasm for life. He was a strong source of emotional support for me in the early years of starting my business. Some of the happiest times of my life were in his company with some of his other buddies like Bill McNabb Sr. It was an exceptional opportunity to be invited into a very rare world of intelligence and talent and productivity.

Your Father was a great man with many dear friends and an exceptional history of giving of himself for the improvement of life for so many people. I especially am grateful for his work with Guide Dogs in Marin.

Willard Hamilton made a big difference in my life - I loved him and I will miss him.

With deep respect,

Anthony Sandberg

I have such fond memories of Will Hamilton. He used to call me his deputy daughter, first class, with royal order of the brass figerlee and oakleaf cluster, 35 years I still remember, that is the impact he had on me. You see, I met his daughter Lelia when I was 6 years old and she is my oldest and dearest friend. I spent many a day at the Hamilton household. I was so lucky and so fortunate to know such a wonderful man and family. My thoughts and prayers are with Diane and the family. He will be forever in my heart.

Dear Boompa,

I miss you so much. Not a day goes by that I don't think of you and your sweet personality. Thank you so much for being the best grandpa you could possibly be.I also want to thank you for my mother and all my uncles and aunts. I am so glad you went peacefully and that you don't have to suffer anymore. Now, I am learning so much about you that I didn't know before! You directed off broadway plays? I would've loved to have seen one! I bet they were absolutly spectacular! Well, you are in my prayers every night and I'm so glad that you are in a better place. I feel proud because mom says that a piece of you is in me and I express it by writing. I want you to know that when I get to heaven, I'm going to write you an ode even though words cannot express how much I love you. Well, I could keep on writing forever, but lets make it short and sweet. I love you with all of my heart and soul and will never, ever forget all you brought to this world. You are in my heart always.

Love, Your grandaughter Gabrielle

Will and I worked together as stewards in many a Bohemian Club production. I especially remember "Charlie's Little Acre" and the almost international incident over playing the German National Anthem for our guest, Chancellor Helmut Schmidt.

I'll miss Will.
