William Gaffey
William Whelan Gaffey, 88, died peacefully July 19, 2025, at home in Sacramento. Born in San Francisco, son of Mary Cashel and Michael A. Gaffey. Former parishioner of St. Stephen's Church, San Francisco and Immaculate Conception Church, Sutter Creek. Pre-deceased by his parents, his sister Mary Hutchings, and his brothers Michael, Dennis, Brendan, and Rev. Kevin Gaffey. A 1955 graduate of St. Ignatius High School, Bill attended the University of San Francisco and worked thirty-five years for the US Postal Service. Survived by his loving wife Mary Ann (Piamonte) Gaffey, stepson John Patrick de la Paz of Manila, seven sisters-in-law, eight brothers-in-law, twenty-nine nieces and nephews, nine grandnieces/nephews, four great-grandnieces/nephews, and cousin Rev. Msgr. James Gaffey. Funeral Mass to be celebrated Friday, August 15, 2025, at 11:00, Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 2231 Club Center Drive, Sacramento.
