I first met Bill when we were hired as first five police explorers at Millbrae PD.

I always remember your mom offering me food and a kind smile when I came over. Your father always checked in with me too.

After high school we went our different ways but caught up with each other starting in our 20´s as our careers began in law enforcement.

I still think of you.

Bill, thank you for the encouragement during the first few years of my career with CHP. Its been 18 years now since I statrted, and looking back I see how great an influence you had on me.

On several occasions we worked together and you spoke wise words to me that still encourgae me today to do the right thing.

Now that I am near the end of this, I wanted to say thank you to your family for the sacrifice all of you made for people like me.

Your example saved my life and has encouraged me to keep going when I thought there was no other way to get through it all.

God Bless you and you're family.

Bill,
Many years ago while I was in high school and we were explorers together at Millbrae PD...my home life was rough. Your mom, dad and you were a safe haven for me and an example of what parents and a warm home life was suppose to be. I always leaned on your words of support over the years and raised two sons in a positive home environment. Thank you Bill. I'm now retired from a 28 year LE career and my sons are grown and enjoying their careers. I'll see you one day.

Hey Bud,
Thought about you today as I do often. It's been a while now but I still think about the good times we had, those many nights of coffee at Happy Donuts on El Camino and the rainy night you and I rescued "swamp thing" on 280. Those are some of my best memories. In our last conversation, a week prior to your passing, you made me promise to take the Sergeant's test. Well, I did it bud. Did it because I promised you I would. It all worked out, just like you said it would. I miss you my friend. Thanks for everything you've done for me.

Dear Bill - I recently found this guest book and have read every entry. I met you in the early Millbrae days and had the honor to have been cadets together. You were 29 Edward 1 and I was 29 Edward 5. You were my FTO and my memories of those days are some of the best. You are one of the most stand-up guys I have ever met. Smart, focused, determined, a natural leader. You motivated me to pursue my law enforcement career; you were a guy that everyone looked up to and that everyone admired. I miss bumping into you from time to time, catching up, and just getting a few minutes of "Bill Schlimmer time." I think about you a lot and hope you are in a comfortable place. My prayers are with you, Donna, and your kids. I miss you Bill...

o how much I wish you were here. I think about you everyday. Last week Officer Hill from the Vallejo Office came to Daniels home and meet with the Family. Daniel our grandson married to Renee asked me about two years ago what I thought about him joining the Highway Patrol. I was so happy. He has now passed everything and is awaiting for a date to go to the Academy. We watch the tape what is expected and how the family has to support him. Daniel reminds me of you in so many ways. I only wish I could of in some way supported you more.

July 24, 2010

Dear Bill, family and friends of yours,

I was in Reno this past weekend on a department trip and ran into a CHP officer who was a guest. He told me of your passing...he had some great words of praise as you touched his life during his first two weeks training in Redwood City years ago.

This is the same way you touched me and I looked up to you when we became the first explorer/cadet group for Millbrae Police Department. I attended Mills..you Cap but we were friends back then. My family life was a tough time and you, your father and mom gave me sanctuary. I thank you.

I remember your father standing up from the chair and shaking my hand. Your mom offering me food and drink.

I was shook when I learned of this a week ago..it's tough as you touched my youth and as young as you were, you were an old soul who guided all of us who walked down the road of life together.

I have 2 sons who are flourishing in college and I am soon to retire in 2 years. I wanted your mom, wife and kids to know what a good man you were through and through. I lost track of you but I checked in to you from time to time.

All my prayers and more to you, your wife and kids.

Bill, family and your friends,

I was in Reno last weekend with the department I work for. I was told by a guest who worked with you..and was trained by you..that you were gone.

I wanted to share with others, that I was proud to know you as a kid in high school and we were the first police explorer/cadet group for Millbrae Police Department.

I want every one to know how much I looked up to you and your family when I hung out. I had a rough family life and you gave me a sanctuary.

I remember your father getting out of his chair, shaking my hand..your mom offering food or drink. Nice family.

Bill...I am sorry and I want you to know how much you meant to me during my highschool years because I looked up to you.

Donna....I don't know you but I said a prayer for you, Bill and the kids.

My heart felt prayers,

Bill, it's amazing how many times that I get a glimpse of a tall officer going by the window into Special Duty and I think, "there goes Bill." Then I am yanked into the here and now and know that it's someone else. Your name comes up in the office more that you would ever imagine, and we are all still missing you so much. Though as a volunteer and I am only in the office once a week or so, the many memories of when you did so much for so many remain with all of us.

Bill,
I'm sorry to say that I've yet to sign your guest book until now. I can assure you that my delay in doing so was not because I haven't thought of you on a regular basis. As I read through some of the other comments various guests left, I couldn't help but notice a repetive theme; everyone looked to you as a role model. To this day, many people related that they consider what you would do when they're faced with a tough decision. I can assure you that I'm included in this crowd. I'd like to think that part of my development as both an Officer and a person reflects the guidance and advice that I was fortunate enough to receive from you. As I watched you interact with people, whether it be the general public, your peers, or your supervisors, I noticed that you were always straight forward and genuine. It's hard not like someone with those qualities because you always know where they stand and that you're getting an honest answer from them. Thanks for being that person. As the holidays are upon us, I'd like to wish all of your family a safe and merry Christmas. Take care Bill

Dear Bill,

I'm your Mom's good friend, I'm sure you see us out and about laughing, but wherever we are and whatever were doing you are never far from her thoughts, I see it in her eyes. She tries so hard to keep going Bill. . Your brothers do their best to try and fill your void, and we will do all we can whenever we can to help her should she need anything. She tries to be the same person she was, still never any unkindness, or negativity in her personality.....always loving forgivness even when its difficult. She is a great example to me. Give her strength Bill and should I get involved in my mundane life, give me a nudge to call, drop by, email ...I know you sometimes do. You are still greatly loved.

Whenever I come up against a hard decesion at work, I more times then not, ask myself, "What would Bill do?" The answer would be simple and what you would do would always be the right way to go. Bill you were the man and it was my honor to have worked with you and to call you friend.

Dad,

Words simply cannot express my loss. I never imagined living my life without you. I can just flash back to those recent memories, high and low: watching Back To The Future and those James Bond flicks over and over again while chomping on Baby Ruths all night long; handing me the keys to my first car, your 1969 Camaro, and eventually teaching me how to drive a stick shift (HELLO!). I can truly say that I am proud to be your son. I think about you all the time. My Senior year will not be the same without you. I can remember how excited you were to take that college tour trip with me and see where I may wind up next year. There was also that master plan you made for me to build your retirement house after I got my Masters in Engineering. It will be hard to find someone else who can give me advice on how to get good looking girls (Ha-Ha!). I love you and miss you terribly. Don't worry, I will take care of Mom, Mandi, Grandma, GG and Papa. I know that God is taking good care of you. You have a lot of catching up to do with Grandpa and Tio. Godspeed, Dad, my life coach, golf partner, bowling partner, wrestling opponent, and best friend, and I look forward to meeting with you again soon. I know you're standing by my side all the time. In the words of Al the Angel, "We're Always Watching".

I remember when i was 14, I was sitting in the Millbrae PD dispatch center visiting my cousin (Donna) the dispatcher. Then this guy (Bill)walks up and starts talking to her (being a 14 year old boy I immediatley knew "something" was going on here) I didnt know what to think of it and remember not liking him for all of about 5 minutes, that soon changed and he was part of the family, a great part... Bill, you'll be missed, alot.
