Christopher Vega Obituary

VEGA, Christopher A.

Christopher Anthony Vega, of Covina California, died Monday September 17, at City of Hope National Medical Center in Duarte California. Chris was diagnosed with Leukemia in September of 2011, and he was victorious in his courageous battle with this disease. This attack on his body left it vulnerable and he eventually succumbed to kidney failure.

Chris was born on June 3, 1994 at Queen of the Valley Hospital, in West Covina California. He was the first born child of Anthony and Annie Vega.

Chris graduated from Glendora High School, in Glendora California, where he was an honors student. He was a member of the varsity cross country and track teams. Chris had a passion for running and embraced the challenges of training and racing. He took pride in finishing every race he ever started.

Through his nearly year long battle with cancer, Chris became an inspiration to his community, and many others he never even met who were inspired by his faith in God, his infectious positive attitude, and his powerful will to live.

Chris is survived by his parents Anthony and Annie Vega who cherish their son's unrelenting faith in God, and were awed by his will to live. His brother Daniel who says Chris taught him to "fight for what you want" and to "never give up on your dreams", and Nicholas who credits his big brother for developing his passion for reading; his paternal grandparents Gene and Charlene Vega, his maternal grandparents Bill and Mary Makel, his Uncles Steve Smith, Steve Salle, and Todd Holmes, his Aunts Cheryl Smith, Kathy Salle, and Laurie Holmes, His Cousins Steven and Timothy Smith, Madeline and Abby Salle, Andre, Donovan, Noah, and Olivia Holmes, and many extended family and friends.

The funeral services will be held at 12:00 on September 22, 2012 at St. Dorothy's Church in Glendora. The burial to follow at Oakdale Memorial in Glendora. Cabot and Sons, Pasadena
