You made an entire family happy when you married my mom. As we grew to know you, we grew to love you. Couldn't have stopped it if you tried. You were that kind of man. A better father figure we could not have asked for. We all love you dearly and will never forget the impact you had on our individual lives. See you in heaven Pop. Your second family-Norma's kids

Gene was a WW2 veteran, a fireman and a great guy. An excellent mechanic, he was highly valued on LA County fire engine No. 29 and operated the first ladder and snorkel trucks in the 1960's. My favorite memory was going to the annual Dodgers memorial ball game with him in 2007 where we met Rick Monday.

Gene and I spent many wonderful hours bowling on leagues, the Firemen's Olympics, and the So. Cal. Firemen's Bowling Assoc. I never worked with him on the Fire Department but he was loved by all who did. Rest in Peace my friend.

Dad was a native of Ackworth, Iowa, Gene lived in the San Gabriel Valley towns of El Monte, West Covina and La Verne. He graduated from Puente High School and enlisted in the US Army in 1943. He saw action in Germany where he was wounded in the Rhineland campaign. After the war, he returned to work with the LA County Fire Department as an engineer. In 1976, he retired from the fire service and worked for the Bonita Unified School District. He enjoyed baseball, bowling and singing with the Barbershop Harmony Society. Gene was a member of the Nazarene Church. He loved his family and home. RIP Dad, Love, Donna
