Julie Fields Obituary

Julie Elda Grace Nocerino Fields, 92, passed away peacefully Friday, February 20th around 8:20PM.

Julie was born to parents Giuseppi and Giuseppina Nocerino in Pasadena, California, where she lived for 90 years. The oldest of three sisters, Julie had bright red hair and vivid green eyes. Growing up, she spoke Italian as her first language, played piano, and broke her arm four times until her mother threw away her roller skates. She attended John Marshall High School and Pasadena Junior College, where her classmates were Jackie Robinson and William Holden, who said he wouldn't have passed math without Julie's help.

She was happily married to Mitchell Fields for more than 30 years. She worked as a dental and office assistant in Pasadena until she was 82, and volunteered at the Santa Teresita Hospital. Throughout her life, Julie enjoyed music and dancing, and cared deeply about her family and friends. She remained a true Italian at heart—a lover of opera, an incredible cook, a generous hostess, and the center of many parties. Her wonderful sense of humor brightened many lives, especially at Club 321, the opera club in Pasadena she attended every Friday, and Diablo Lodge in Danville, where she spent the last years of her life in order to be close to family.

Julie is survived by her younger sister Nita Nocerino Parsons, her family in Northern California and Colorado, and her dear friends in Pasadena and all over the world. They will remember her sparkling eyes and flashy grin.
