Rajan Moonesinghe Obituary

Rajan David Moonesinghe went home to be with Jesus on November 15, 2022 at the age of 33. Raj grew up in Los Angeles, California. He attended Palm Crest Elementary and graduated from La Canada High School in 2007. He obtained a Bachelor's degree from the University of San Diego, in a city he loved and visited often. His kindness, generosity, and sense of duty to those less fortunate traveled with him. As a teenager he journeyed to East Africa with his mother and six members of his church, where he donated soccer gear that he had collected from local teams in California. In the summer of 2021, he purchased a farm, called Goshen, in rural Zambia. In his words: "The purpose of the farm is to build up infrastructure, trade, and commerce for the nine local villages. Goshen is set to build a school for local children, a medical clinic, and employ and educate locals with sustainable agriculture systems." His love and kindness toward others grew out of his love for the family who raised him. Raj adored his family. He flew his father to Austin every year to watch Formula 1 races. He was at his happiest eating his mom's food, and she was his favorite dance partner at weddings and parties. Raj was the "cool" uncle to his older brother Mark's children, taking his nephews to sports games and lending them his designer clothes, and patiently playing with dolls with his niece, his little princess. Raj was immensely proud of inKind, the financial technology company he founded with his brother, Johann, in 2015. He moved to Austin, Texas to grow the business, building it to an organization of more than 70 employees, financing over 600 restaurants throughout the country. In the last 12 months, Raj helped to raise over $150 million for inKind. He was a natural athlete, a talented soccer player, snowboarder, hockey player and golfer. He loved baseball (go Dodgers), basketball (Laker fan from birth) and would wake up at dawn to watch Chelsea FC matches. He enjoyed good food and spending time with family and friends. He brought people together and made those around him feel welcome and heard. He is survived by his loving parents Kavan & Ruth, two older brothers Mark & Johann, two nephews Nathan and Malachi, niece Makayla, his furry children Lulu and Houston, brother and sister-in-law Andy Harris and Jimol, cousins, aunts, uncles, and countless friends. Rajan will be missed beyond words, but never forgotten. Raj's service to be held at Christian Assembly, 2424 Colorado Blvd., Los Angeles, CA on December 9, 2022, at 11am.

I am so sorry for your loss. Raj seemed to be a wonderful young man, with huge potential. I, unfortunately, never met him. My son, and a friend, have the connection. A friend is engaged to Raj's cousin. Bless his heart. Raj will be with The Lord now. I am also heartbroken for his lovely dog. :-(

I hope the the Moonesinghe family sees this message but especially Mrs. Moonesinghe (Ruth). She was my AP Calculus teacher at SPHS in 2006-2007. I recognized the last name and then saw her face when I heard this tragedy on the news. I am absolutely devastated, for her, and her family. My heart goes out to the entire Moonesinghe family and deep condolences.
