Warren Leo Bowen

1932 - 2018

Warren Leo Bowen, a longtime resident of Glendora, CA, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on December 30, 2018. He was 86. Warren was born at home on March 25, 1932, in Hollywood, CA, to Leo and Rose Bowen. He and his older sisters, Rosemary and Polly, were raised in Burbank and Glendale. A graduate of Cathedral High School in Los Angeles, Warren continued his education at Loyola University in Los Angeles, and earned his doctorate in dental surgery at St. Louis University. It was in St. Louis that he met the love of his life, Joan Marie Sheedy. They were married on July 7, 1956, in her hometown of Corning, NY. Warren served in the U.S. Air Force for three years before he and Joan settled in Glendora in 1961 to raise their family of nine children. Warren served Glendora and the surrounding communities for 36 years as a much-loved dentist, practicing for 25 years with his longtime friend, Bill Keegan. He retired in 1997. Warren and Joan have been faithful parishioners at St. Dorothy Catholic Church for almost 60 years. Faith and family have always been the center of their home life. Warren enjoyed a good story, a bad joke, Notre Dame Football, and all things Irish. Many will remember him with love for the simple acts of kindness he showed them. Warren is survived by Joan, his devoted wife of 62 years, their nine children, their sons- and daughters-in-law, and their 21 grandchildren and their families, all of whom will miss him dearly. Warren's life will be celebrated with a Rosary and visitation on Thursday, January 10, 2019, at 7 p.m., followed by Mass on Friday, January 11, 2019, at 10 a.m. Both services will be held at St. Dorothy Catholic Church, 241 S. Valley Center Ave., Glendora, CA 91741. A reception will follow in the adjacent Parish Center. The interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Warren's name to the Cathedral High School, Los Angeles Endowment Fund at www.cathedralhighschool.org.
