William L. (Bill) Longacre
October 5, 1946 – March 7, 2018

William (Bill) L. Longacre, age 71, passed away peacefully in his home in Diamond Bar on Wednesday, March 7, 2018. He was born October 5, 1946 in Glendale, California to Robert and Anne (Peters) Longacre. Bill attended San Gabriel High School and graduated in 1964. For two years, Bill served as a reserve officer for the United States Air Force. On April 27, 1968, Bill married Azura (Cookie) Velasquez. Together, they raised three children. Bill earned an Associate of Arts degree from East Los Angeles College in 1976. For 34 years, Bill proudly served the citizens of Los Angeles, first as a police officer and later as a detective. In 2008, he was awarded one of the highest state honors given to detectives – the Robert Presley Institute of Criminal Investigation's Award for Investigative Excellence. On September, 21, 2002, Bill married Debbie Weese in Dana Point, California. With Debbie's love, guidance, and support, Bill retired from LAPD and continued doing what has always made him happiest – serving others. For many years, Bill was a proud member of the Walnut Valley Rotary Club. In addition to philanthropy, Bill enjoyed working with wood and spending time with his family. Helping those in need, whether as a detective or as a Rotarian, was both his calling and an integral part of his kind heart and gentle character. Bill is survived by his wife, Debbie; his children Scott (Danielle), Ryan (Luis), and Tara (Darrin); his grandchildren, Bryce, Kaitlyn, Elena, Trinity, Christopher, Jayden, and Daniel, and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services for Bill will be held on Monday, March 19, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Evangelical Free Church, 3255 S. Diamond Bar Blvd, Diamond Bar, California. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bill's honor to Rotary Club of Walnut Valley. In the memo line, please write Christmas for Kids.

An amazing friend and neighbor, Bill was the neighborhood dad that every kid wish his dad was like always spoiling his kids rotten and having the best party´s for them. I´m sorry to hear about the family loss.

Hello from Wales in the United Kingdom. In 1988, Bill and his then wife Cookie, together with Tara, Scottie and Ryan opened up their home to me. I was a young police officer from the UK and eager to meet with fellow law enforcement officers. Bill facilitated this and welcomed me into the home three times over the next few years and treated me like a member of the family. He was such a lovely guy and I am truly saddened to read of his passing. I am also sad to realise that it was only a matter of months after I had last made contact with him after 30 years. My sincerest condolences go out to the extended families. I can be contacted on [email protected] if any family member would like to make contact.

Bill was a close friend of mine in the 60´s during our days at San Gabriel High School and for a while thereafter. There were two others, Mike Byard and Chip Travisano, and together we were a group of four really good buddies enjoying our youth. We all just drifted apart with living life in the 70´s. Bill was a gentle soul and genuinely a really nice guy. I am proud to have called him my friend. I´m sorry to have missed his passing for this long and taking so long for this post. RIP Bill. I'm just now today 4/5/18 finding out about Bill's passing. I am saden. What a great person and friend. I met Bill on my postal route in Diamond Bar and hit it off with him. Great personality who would offer me cold soft drinks during hot days on the router. Unlike a new sheriff in town; there's a new angel in heaven. My prayers for his entire family. J. F. M.

Billy: It was an honor to know you and to work with you on the Los Angeles Police Department. I always loved our long conversations about everything under the sun when we were partners. We worked well together for many years and accomplished many great things on our watch. When I was told today about your passing I was stunned and I still am! I always thought we might meet up one day and have a chance to talk about old times. I will never forget you and I will always remember you in my prayers! My deepest and heartfelt condolences to your entire family. You will be missed and
remembered always.

Condolences to the family, it was an honor to have met him and spent time with him when I come down to see Debbie in the summer. I loved listening to his stories when he was an officer. We would sit in the garage and just talk. Im really going to miss him when I come down this summer. RIP my friend. He will be guardian angel to many that loved him.
