Anthony Lorenz Obituary

Anthony Hugo Lorenz, 84, joined his Heavenly family on Tuesday, October 4, 2016. Born in Waldo, WI to Hugo Lorenz and Florence Schmitt, he graduated from Waldo High School in 1949 and joined the Army to serve in Korea. After serving 30 years in the reserves, he continued on as an active member of the Sheboygan VFW. He married the love of his life, Nancy Kolberg of Sheboygan Falls, on September 27, 1958 and they were blessed with four beautiful children.

Along with his wife, Tony enjoyed volunteering in the Sheboygan community, traveling with People to People, singing with the church choir, and auditing classes at UW Sheboygan. Not only was Tony a life long learner, he also spent time reading with the second grade class at Jefferson Elementary School.

Tony's passion for life was contagious and he enjoyed meeting knew people everywhere he went. If he didn't know you when you sat next to him, he'd know you when you left.

While spending time with family, his favorite view was of Lake Michigan from the cottage he built with Nancy in Sturgeon Bay, WI.

Tony is survived by wife, Nancy (Kolberg) Lorenz; son Michael (Laurel) Lorenz, daughter Cynthia (Timothy) Mais, daughter Amy (Jason) Unger, son-in-law David Berlin; grandchildren Kelsey (Aaron) Blanke, Ian Mais, Anna Berlin, Joseph Lorenz, Abigail Berlin, James Lorenz, Erica Lorenz, Grace Unger, Alex Unger, David Unger, Grant Unger; great grandson Grayson Lee; sister Marge (Bert) Dreps, sister Joanne (Harlan) Schwanek, sister Emme Knopp, brother Ronald (Charlene) Lorenz, sister Mary (Bill) Reinl, sister Shirley Carpenter, sister Jane (Ken) DePagter; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Tony is preceded in death by his daughter Elizabeth Berlin.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that you plant something in his honor.

A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Anthony's life will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 10:30am at Blessed Trinity Parish in Sheboygan Falls with Rev. Dennis VanBeek officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park in the town of Sheboygan with military honors.

I am sorry I didn't see this in time for the funeral. Tony was my first Sargent in the reserves. I saw him a few times since then and every time I saw him we would catch up. The last time was last veterans day. I will miss him but I am so thankful to have known him.
