Charles Fenton Obituary

Fenton, Charles E.

Captain Charles E. Fenton Sr., age 63, of Saukville, passed away peacefully at his home on July 20th following a courageous battle against cancer.

Charlie was born in Sheboygan on March 19th, 1952, the son of Alvin and Louise Fenton. He attended Culver Military Academy and the University School of Milwaukee, before graduating from Oostburg High School in 1970. He proudly served our country as a member of the U.S. Navy in the Vietnam War, and continued on in the National Guard for several years. He attended the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and Milwaukee School of Engineering.

Then realizing his passion for the aviation industry, Charlie pursued his love for flying. He had an extensive career that started with Masaba Airlines and led him to 20 years with Midwest Express Airlines in Milwaukee, where he worked his way up to Captain. He shared his knowledge of aviation through various flight schools and EAA Chapters throughout his life.

After 40 years, Charlie reconnected with his teenage love, Debra Rutkowski, in 2006 and the two were married on May 8, 2010 in Elkhart Lake.

He is survived by his devoted and adoring wife Debra (nee Rutkowski) Fenton. He is further survived by his siblings John Fenton of Rio Linda, CA and Anita Fenton of Vancouver, Canada; four children: Anna (Joe) Bluma of Grafton, Charlie (Jill) Fenton, Jr. of New Orleans, LA, Scott Fenton of New Orleans, LA and Anthony Fenton of Port Washington; step-sons: Jaymon (Courtney) Stalter of Hingham and Scott Stalter of La Crosse; three lovely grandchildren: Isabella and Isaiah Bluma and Tripp Stalter, extended family and countless friends.

He is preceded in his death by his parents.

A Celebration of Charlie's life will be held at 2PM on Saturday, August 15th at the EAA Chapter 1158 Hanger at the West Bend Airport, 330 Earl Stier Dr. (south of Hwy 33 on the east side of West Bend).

The family would like to thank the staffs of the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic and Sharon S. Richardson Hospice for their wonderful, compassionate care.

I am so sorry for your loss. Charlie was a classmate of mine - we both attended school in Kohler. It sounds like he had a full life & a loving family. My father, Fred Schnorr, was also a navy man and so we thank also thank them both for their military service.
