John Eickhoff Obituary

Eickhoff, John F.

John F. Eickhoff, 83, Sheboygan, died peacefully at St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay, on Saturday morning, July 16, 2011, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Oct. 28, 1927, in Millhome, son of the late Alve & Norma (Kretsch) Eickhoff. John attended grade school in rural Kiel and was a 1945 graduate of Kiel High School.

On Nov. 8, 1947, he married Marion Fritsch at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Sheboygan.

John worked briefly at Kohler Company before being employed at Deans Foods, Sheboygan, formerly Verifine Dairy for 35 years, mostly as a milkman, before retirement.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Sheboygan, where he was an elder, an usher and an early volunteer in the tape ministry of the church.

He enjoyed woodworking, working in his yard, playing Sheepshead and was an avid Packers and Brewers fan.

He had a great sense of humor, which will be missed.

John was a wonderful, caring and loving husband, father and grandfather.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Marion, Sheboygan; two children, Barbara Jane (Robert) Eisold, Knoxville, Tenn.; John S. Eickhoff, Sheboygan; one grandson, Bobby Eisold, Knoxville, Tenn., brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Wayne Fritsch, Jane Heinen, Allen (Jackie) Fritsch, Jim Schmidt and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Sheldon Fritsch and sister-in-law, Margie Schmidt.

Private funeral services will be held on Tuesday at the Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home, Kiel with the Rev. Alan Kretschmar, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Sheboygan, officiating.

Burial will take place in the Schleswig Cemetery, Town of Schleswig (Rockville).

A memorial has been established in his name.

John's family would like to extend their thanks and gratitude to the doctors and staff at St. Vincent Hospital for the wonderful care he received and to the Rev. Alan Kretschmar for his concern and prayers.

Sorry to hear of John's death. It has been many years since we have had contact, but I do have good memories of his early years at Millhome. He was five years older than I, and I had looked up to him as a teenager.
Our prayer is that God grant you comfort at this time of loss.
