Willis Meyer Obituary

Willis A. Meyer, 87, of Union Grove, passed away on February 8, 2012 at Aurora Medical Center. He was born March 29, 1924 to William and Mary (nee Gessner) Meyer in Sheboygan, WI. He married the late Doris Mae Spatzek on July 17, 1948 and they had 55 wonderful years together. A graduate of Lakeland College, he received a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics and was a benefactor of a scholarship fund at the college. Willis served during WWII as a member of the Army Air Corp bomber ground crew in England.

Willis retired after 34 years of working as an Engineer for Cleaver-Brooks a division of Aqua Chem. He was a member of the Elks Club #46 in Milwaukee. Willis attended many reunions with the 487th Bomb Group and was very proud of his service. Most of his free time was spent planning trips for Doris and himself at different time shares around the continental United States, Hawaii, and even England. They especially loved visiting The Rushes in Door County.

Willis is survived by his children, Steven (Candice) Meyer of Cary, IL, Susan (Glen) Cerny of Las Cruces, NM; Sharon (Denis) Druker of Paddock Lake, WI, and Sally (Dan Meyer) Priest of Woodbury, MN; and his grandchildren, Kristopher, Kyle, Kevin, Ryan, Adam, Erica, and Stuart.

Willis was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Doris and his parents.

There will be a funeral service held March 10, 2012 at Lakeland College Chapel with full military honors. Burial will follow at the Sheboygan Cemetery.

The family requests that donations be made in Willis' honor to the Lakeland College Scholarship Fund.
