Arthur Stanley "Mike" Roberts Jr., 76, of Shelbyville, passed away Sunday, August 7, 2022, at his home.
He was born January 21, 1946, in Indianapolis, the son of Arthur Stanley and Rosemary (Morris) Roberts. On July 2, 1994, he married Delva Jean Heavilon, and she survives.
In addition to Delva, Mike is survived by his daughter, Holly Roberts of Nashua, New Hampshire; son, Trae Roberts and wife, Jennifer, of Indianapolis; step-daughter, Brooke Ballagh of Indianapolis; brothers, Dr. Jon Roberts of Columbus, and Joseph Roberts and wife, Mary Kay, of Oldenburg; sisters, Dr. Leslie Rubin and husband, Dr. Mike Rubin, of Indianapolis, and Shelley Lukemeyer and husband, George II, of Syracuse; grandchildren, Lucia Templeton, Bridget Templeton, Madison Ballagh and Ryder Roberts; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and step-son, Dean Templeton.
Mike graduated in 1963 from Shelbyville High School. He continued his education at Earlham College and graduated in 1970 from Indiana University School of Dentistry. Mike obtained masters in pain management from both, the University of Oxford in Oxford, England and Edinburgh University in Edinburgh, Scotland, and from the University of Antiqua he received his MD.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as a Captain in Vietnam and rose to the rank of Major. Later he served in the U.S. Navy as Lt. Commander.
Mike was a member of the Second Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.
He was a dentist and a pain management doctor. Mike operated Indiana Craniofacial Center.
Mike was a member of the New Palestine Masonic Lodge No. 404 F&AM, the American Academy of Oral Medicine and the American Academy of Pain Management.
He enjoyed being a pilot, riding motorcycles and going skiing, scuba diving and sailing.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, August 11, 2022, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home, with Pastor Gerald Holmes officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the local military committee.

Condolences and prayers to the family. Dr. Roberts was a blessing as my doctor, he was an answer to my prayers and truly helped me. He is missed and I will always remember him and his sweet wife. Prayed for the family.
