Eva Hopper Obituary
GAFFNEY, S.C.-Carrie Eva Garner Hopper, 93, of 205 Lansdell Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at her daughter's home.
Born in Gaffney, she was the widow of the late William (Bill) Thomas Hopper, Sr. and daughter of the late Horace Garner and Margaret Jane Foster Garner. Mrs. Hopper retired from Oxford after 39 years of service, loved painting and crocheting, and was the oldest member of Bethany Baptist Church where she formerly taught Sunday School.
Surviving are three sons, William Thomas Hopper, Jr. and wife, Rachel Ann, of Mayo, James Kenneth Hopper and wife, Marcia, of Shelby, NC and David Claibourne Hopper of Gaffney; three daughters, Sandra H. Dill-Little and husband, Robert, Laura Hopper Ruppe and husband, Rocky, and Linda Hopper Bradley and husband, Steven A., Sr., all of Gaffney; two sisters, Emma Garner Baines of Gaffney and Annette Garner Estes of Hickory Grove; a sister-in-law, Lucy Mitchell Garner of Rock Hill; fourteen grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Evelyn Garner Ferguson, Mary Garner Blackwell and Clara Garner and five brothers, Frank Garner, J. E. Garner, Leon Garner, Charles (Bo) Garner and Billy Garner.
The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 4 p.m., on Friday, April 3, 2015, at Bethany Baptist Church.
Funeral services will immediately follow at 4 p.m., at the Church, with the Rev. Roger Ham officiating.
Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery.
In lieu of memorials, the family requests flowers be sent to honor Mrs. Hopper.
The family will be at the residence, 205 Lansdell Drive, Gaffney.
