Charles Unsworth Obituary

DOYLINE, LA - Charles "Chuck" Edward Unsworth, 82, of Doyline, LA passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2010 following a brief illness.

He was born August 11, 1928, in Memphis, Tenn. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1948, and served 4 years in the Korean War. He received two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star during his service.

Chuck retired from McLean Trucking in 1984 after 33 years of service and became an active member of El Karubah Shriners and was a member of the Shadrack Unit for 10 years. He was also a member of VFW post 285, Minden Masonic Lodge, Military Order of the Purple Heart and Doyline First Baptist Church. He loved spending time with "his girls" and cherished the days spent with his great-grandson, Wyatt, who he fondly called "Squirt". He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nancy Unsworth; daughter Kimberly Unsworth Martin and husband Art of Minden; granddaughters Kristi Martin Richie and fiancee Thomas Johnston of Gulfport, Miss., and Laura Martin Haley and husband Joey of Doyline; great-grandson, Charles Wyatt Haley; and brother, Jimmy Boyd and wife Leila of Dyersburg, Tenn.

Chuck donated his body to science; however the family will receive friends during a visitation reception. It will be held Tuesday, December, 28th, 2010 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Doyline First Baptist Church Fellowship Center. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children Shreveport c/o Transportation Fund, or charity of choice.
