Paula Jo Cooper Thomas

Paula Jo Cooper Thomas was born on October 19, 1954, and returned to heaven early on Saturday, March 13, 2021, surrounded by her immediate family.

Paula exemplified Christ in her daily life. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family and her church family at the University Church of Christ. She worked in the church office and was instrumental in the Fall Food Roundup, as well as the Greeters Ministry. Paula was also very involved with her church family at Mesquite Church of Christ in Mesquite, Texas, before moving back home to Shreveport, Louisiana, in 2010. She never missed acknowledging the birthdays and anniversaries of loved ones with cards and calls. Paula and her husband, Mike, loved gardening, cooking, preserving, canning and often shared the fruits of their labor with everyone. Her generosity and love for others shined through everything she did.

Paula was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2017. She fought hard and never gave up, keeping her positive spirit and attitude through her entire battle.

Preceding Paula in death were her parents, Jimmie and Flora Cooper.

She is survived by her husband, James Michael Thomas; her son, Jason Thomas, and wife, Laura, of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; daughter, Jessica Glaser, and husband, Christopher, of Midland, Texas; her grandchildren, Hayden Stevens, Hudson Thomas, and James Glaser; her sister, Jennifer Fant, and husband, Major, of Belcher, Louisiana, her twin sister, Pamela Lester, and husband, Mike, of Shreveport, Louisiana; her brother, John Cooper, and wife, Charlene, of Bossier, Louisiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Friday, March 19, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at University Church of Christ in Shreveport. Officiating the service will be Jerry Hodge and Stuart Freeman.
