R.B. Lester Obituary

R.B. "Bart" Lester

Shreveport, LA - R.B. Lester "Bart", age 56, made his last trip around the sun leaving this earth Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 6:43pm. He was at home surrounded by his loving wife, Suzanne and their sons, Cameron and Ren.

Bart passed away from Myotonic Dystrophy (a form of Muscular Dystrophy with no cure) which he was diagnosed with almost four years ago. He never complained, but just kept moving forward, living and loving life each and every day.

Bart was a kind and loving man with a great sense of humor. His finest years, both young and later with his own family, were spent at Cross Lake in a home originally built by his grandparents.

He worked for the City of Shreveport as the Event's Coordinator for 27 years, meeting and working with so many fascinating people during that time. However, due to the disease, he had to retire far sooner than he had planned.

Bart is preceded in death by his parents Nickie and Jackye Lester, his grandmother, Johnnie "Nana" Lester and his brother-in-law, Steve Brainis.

He is survived by his wife Suzanne, sons Ren and Cameron Lester (wife Jamie Nicole), grandchildren Alexandria, Austin and Brenden, and one great-grandson Kasen. He is also survived by his brother Nick Lester and his wife Leigh Ann from San Antonio, TX. Bart said Nick was the best brother he could have ever had. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Lucy Brainis; sister-in-law Sara Rambin (husband Joe) and their children Brooks, Josh and Stefan; brother-in-law David Brainis (wife Amy) and their children Garrett, Arden and Avery; and brother-in-law Joe Brainis. Bart had two special friends that he grew up with, Mark Leonard from Schulenburg, TX and Scott Petree. They each called at least once a week or more to visit with Bart. They also made many visits to the house to laugh and reminisce about all they did growing up together.

Special thanks for their gracious, heartfelt care of Bart to; Dr. T. Jeffery Bernard; Dr. Russell Fileccia and Sandra Torres, RN; Veronica Fruge', LPN; Tony Smith, CNA; Chris Poindexter, CNA; and Regional Hospice.

Per Bart's request he will be cremated, and there will be no funeral service. Bart said he lived a great life and he never liked funerals!
