Suzanne James Obituary

Suzanne Jo Bryson James

SHREVEPORT,LA—Services celebrating the life of Suzanne Jo Bryson James will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel at 1815 Marshall Street in Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating will be Pastor Dennis Sims of Ellerbe Road Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Rose-Neath Cemetery on Swan Lake Road in Bossier City, Louisiana. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Suzanne was born May 17, 1959 in Woodland, CA. She entered the arms of her Heavenly Father on February 13, 2014 in Shreveport, LA after a courageous battle with cancer. There to greet Suzanne in Heaven were her loving parents, Edward and Shirley Bryson; her maternal grandparents, Mr. Garnet Gene Sills and Vera Delray Sills and her paternal grandparents, Mr. Edward and Zena Bryson. Left to cherish many precious memories is her loving husband of 30 years, Dennis Lee James ; her three adored daughters, Tiffany Suzanne Charon and husband James; Cassie Suzanne Miller and husband, Seth; and Jessica Dawn Calhoun and husband Taylor; her sister, Stacey Bryson Faragher and brother, Bryant Denley Bryson and wife Deanne. Her memory will be especially cherished by the ones who called her "Nanny", Jacob Brown, Lucas Brown, Amy Charon, and Lilly Calhoun. And Suzanne will meet her three unborn grandbabies that are expected to enter this world this summer.

Suzanne attended Fortuna High School in Fortuna, CA where she was active in cheerleading and theater. Her theater career cumulated with her portrayal of Lucy in "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown." Charles Schulz, creator of the Charlie Brown character, sponsored Suzanne in the state competition where she was named Junior Miss. Showing her adventurous spirit Suzanne eloped with her first husband and gave birth to her first "little angel". Following the death of Curtis, Suzanne took her baby girl to be closer to her parents in Shreveport, LA where she reconnected with a childhood friend, Dennis James, who would become the great love of her life. Together she and Dennis would go on to have two more "Little Angels" and make a home with a foundation built on love. Suzanne was a great cook and enjoyed celebrating every special occasion to the fullest with her family and friends. Suzanne had a passion for spending time on the water with her husband fishing, regardless of whether they caught anything or not. She cherished their quality time together. Suzanne was employed by University Development Company for 20 years. However, her most important job was the raising of her three daughters. She would tell anyone she met about "her girls." This unconditional love and support was extended to her daughter's husbands and her grandbabies. Suzanne loved her grandchildren more than anything on this earth. They were the light of her life. She was the best wife, mother, "Nanny" and friend. Her unconditional love for each and every one of her family and friends was undeniable.

Honoring Suzanne as pallbearers will be Jay Bandy, Jacob Brown, Bryant Denley Bryson, Taylor Calhoun, James Charon, and Seth Miller.

Suzanne's family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Anderson and the nurses at St. Paul's Southwestern Medical Center for their caring spirit and support during her difficult battle with Multiple Myeloma . Their loving care and compassion was not only a comfort to Suzanne but also to her entire family.
