Victor Cenci Obituary

WWII Merchant Marine, with Local 3 IBEW 75 years, family man Victor Cenci, 96, died peacefully in his sleep on New Year's Day, 2023 at his home in Arrochar. A life-long Staten Islander, he was pre-deceased by his wife of 68 years Theresa (nee Cacciabue), his parents, Nellie and Joseph Cenci, his sister Vincenza (Rita) Montanti and his brother Louis. He is survived by his children, Victor (Linda) of Westfield NJ, Geraldine Cenci (Stephen Krall) of Suffolk VA, Paula Cenci of Staten Island, grand-daughter Erica Cenci (Bryan Cordes) of Madison NJ and numerous nieces and nephews. During WWII, he was a radio operator in the Merchant Marine, sailing to ports all along the east coast and Europe. This led to a love of travel, which he did with Theresa going to China, the Panama Canal, the Caribbean Islands, Alaska, Italy, Budapest, and river cruises throughout Europe. Following in his father's footsteps, Victor was a proud member of the Electricians Union, Local 3 IBEW and was recognized at a luncheon in 2022 as a 75 Year member. Throughout his 50-year working career he was a foreman on projects ranging from Manhattan office towers, apartment complexes, re-wiring the Goethals Bridge, runaway lighting for JFK airport and spent time on the Verrazzano Bridge construction project. He was active in the Staten Island Electrical Club, the Electrical Retiree Club, the South Beach Civic Association and was a member of the American Legion Cespino-Russo Post. His love of the beach and boardwalk started when he was 16, working the rides at the South Beach Amusement Park. This led to having a place in Point Pleasant Beach NJ, and in later years, he and Theresa would spend many a warm day at the Ocean Breeze pavilion on the South Beach Boardwalk. Viewing at A. Azzara Funeral Home, 183 Sand Lane, SI, NY 10305 on Thursday January 5 from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Friday January 6 at 10:30 am with a service at 11:00 am. I have known Vic for over 40 years working as an electrician in Local Union#3 IBEW. Victor was a very kind and humble man, he always had a smile on his face, and nice things to say to everyone. He will be sorely missed. My deepest condolences go out to the entire Cenci Family, and may Vic's soul rest in peace with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
