SIDNEY—Jerome S. "Jaws" Knoop, age 78 of Sidney, passed away Monday, December 28, 2020 at 12:23 AM at his home. He was born on January 13, 1942 in Sidney, Ohio, the son of the late Eugene Knoop and Alma (Wooddell) Knoop Furlong. On September 17, 1960, he married Lucinda J. Burroughs, who survivies along with two children Annette (Bob) Schroerlucke, and Mike (Tammy) Knoop both of Sidney, four grandchildren, Ray (Bridget) Woodruff, Tom (Valerie) Woodruff, Kurt (Ashley) Woodruff, and Trent (Dana) Knoop, and four great-grandchildren, Max, Mary, Miles and Simon. He was preceded in death by one brother, James Knoop, and two sisters, Virginia Dill and Darlene Barker.
Mr. Knoop was a Sidney High School graduate, and was the former proprietor of Bel-Mar Lanes for 36 years, prior to passing the business over to his son, Mike, and daughter-in-law, Tammy.
Knoop Diamond field was named after Jerry for his service and dedication to the IUTIS organization. He was also a member of the Parks & Recreation Board, and the Bowling Proprietors Association. He was an avid bowler, scoring 10 - 300 games in his lifetime.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, January 4, 2021 at 12:00 PM at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home with Rev. Diana Circelli officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Sidney. The family will receive friends on Monday from 10 AM until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shelby County Animal Rescue Foundation (SCARF) and IUTIS. Condolences may be expressed to the Knoop family at the funeral home's website, www.cromesfh.com

I will always remember bowling with Jaws at Bel mar or on the road in Chicago,Cincinnati,Reno and Vegas or just a short trip to the local casinos.
Great times.
