Rachel Marie Lozano Sowicki, 51, of Lewiston passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2022 after a four-year battle with leukemia.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life gathering from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1, at Stoney Creek Inn.
Formerly of McCook Lake, Rachel was born Oct. 31, 1970. She attended Saint Peter's Catholic grade school and graduated from Bishop Heelan Catholic High School in 1989. She graduated from the University of South Dakota with honors and a degree in English. She then graduated from Western Iowa Tech with a degree in nursing. She did travel nursing in Boston and North Carolina, where she met Phillip Sowicki. They married Aug. 9, 2003, in Lewiston. They had three children together.
She worked at Mount Saint Mary's Hospital in the ER and later in Ambulatory care in Lewiston. Rachel had a great love for travel and adventure. She visited many countries: England, France, Italy, China, Israel and Australia to name a few. She had a love for animals especially cats. Her favorite cat was Lulu.
She is survived by her husband Phillip Sowicki; three children Averi, Mavis, and Owen Sowicki; mother Doris Lozano and significant other Mike Owens; sister Rebecca Lozano and significant other Troy March; and sister Amy Boyle (husband Scott Boyle).
She was preceded in death by her father Abel Lozano; paternal grandparents; and maternal grandmother.

My sympathies to Rachel's family. I worked with Rachel in the ER. What a sweet refreshing presence she was and known for her smile which lit up her face. She is now in the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ healthy and smiling.
