Dr. Richard W. Hoberg, 61, Sioux City, passed away Friday, Aug. 5, 2022 after a lengthy illness. Abiding by his wishes, his body was cremated and there will be a celebration of life held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Richard was born the son of Jack and Mary Alice (Lawler) Hoberg on Dec. 12, 1960 in Sioux City. He graduated from Heelan High School in 1979 and went on to receive his bachelor in biology from Briar Cliff University in 1983. He received his doctor of optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago in 1988. He worked as an optometrist for many years. Most recently at the Walmart Vision Center on Floyd Blvd. He enjoyed model airplanes, building computers, and playing video games. His greatest joy was raising his nephew, Bradley.
Richard is survived by a sister-in-law, Arienne Hoberg of Sioux City; nieces and nephews, Mary K. Hoberg, Bradley (Jessica) Hoberg, Kylie (Khaleel) Davenport, Kelsea Hoberg and special friend, Olivia, and Luke (Amber) Hoberg; one great-nephew and one great-niece. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Thomas.
