Yvonne 'Sis' Felix
Sioux City
On Thursday, May 5, 2022, Yvonne "Sis" Felix passed away at Mercy Hospital surrounded by family, at the age of 74.
Service will be held on at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Ave. Viewing will take place at 10 a.m. Reception will follow at Elks Lodge 1001 Triview Ave., Sioux City. The family requests that everyone wear yellow in honor of Nanny's favorite color.
Sis was born on April 18, 1948, in Sioux City to Edna and Hyle Felix. She grew up with four other siblings and graduated from Central High School in 1966. She later gave birth to her only child Lori, in 1970. Sis worked many years as a grocery store produce manager. In her final years, after retiring, she went back to work as a bus attendant for Sioux City schools special needs children; a job she loved and made her feel fulfilled.
"Sis" or "Nanny" had a passion for football. She didn't miss a Buffalo Bills or Iowa Hawkeye game at Court St. Tavern (her happy place and home away from home). Some of her hobbies included birdwatching, gardening, making bottle lanterns, and cooking and baking for her friends and family. What she loved doing most in the entire world was being around her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Nothing brought her more joy and she beamed with pride upon mentioning each one.
She is survived by her sister Glenda (Jerry); brothers Kenneth (Patricia), and Robert; daughter Lori; niece and nephews Tina, Chad, Nick, Joe, Todd, and Jeremy; granddaughters MaKayla, Khyrie (Elijah), and Kortney (Marcelo); great-grandchildren Isaiah, Zoie, Witten, Cassius, Abriel, and Cairo; and many special friends.
Sis was preceded in death by her sister Charlene; mother Edna; and father Hyle.
The family would also like to thank Mercy Hospital ICU staff for taking amazing care of Sis throughout her final days.
