LINCOLN - Agnes L. Eckert, 90, of Lincoln passed away at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at Maple Ridge Care Centre in Lincoln.
Mrs. Eckert was born March 28, 1918, in Broadwell Township, the daughter of Ananais and Pearl Wallace Huskins. She married Donald M. Eckert on June 8, 1947, in Springfield. He preceded her in death on March 4, 1999.
Mrs. Eckert was a graduate of Lincoln High School, where she was a member of the National Honor Society, in 1936 and Brown's Business School in 1938. She was head cook at Central School in Lincoln for 20 years. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Logan County Cook's Association and VFW Auxilary and also served as a Girl Scout leader for many years.
Mrs. Eckert is survived by three sons, James "Bud" Babbs, Robert (Deborah) Eckert and Daniel (Anna) Eckert, all of Lincoln; four daughters, Joyce (Marvin) Oltmanns, Nancy (Louis) Farkas and Mary (Matthew) Mason, all of Lincoln and Judith (Charles) Barkley of Virginia Beach, Va.; a brother, Kenneth (Kathy) Huskins of Lincoln; a sister, Jean (Robert) Lolling of Lincoln; 17 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 9, 2008, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lincoln with the Rev. Jeffrey G. Laible officiating.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 8, 2008, at Peasley Funeral Home in Lincoln.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Lincoln.
Memorials may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation or the American Diabetes Association.
