Alice Walter

NEW BERLIN - Alice Walter, 74, of New Berlin, died at 10:37 a.m. on Thursday, February 14, 2013, at Regency Nursing Home.

She was born on April 23, 1938, in Petersburg, the daughter of August and Lena Jurgens Theilen. She married Elliott Walter on December 28, 1957, in Pleasant Plains. He preceded her in death on September 4, 2006.

She was a graduate of Pleasant Plains High School. She held various secretarial positions including at Hermes Chevrolet, Farmer's Grain, U & L Grain, FS of New Berlin, and she retired from the State of Illinois Department of Public Aid. She enjoyed cooking lunches for all of the farm help, playing cards with friends and family, having big family Sunday dinners, and vacationing in the winter.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Kenneth, Wayne, and Paul Theilen.

She is survived by her son, Steve (wife, Linda) Walter of New Berlin; two grandchildren, Jerrod (wife, Lindsey) Walter and Jacob (wife, Natalie) Walter, both of New Berlin; five great-grandchildren, Gentry, Crue, Hayden, Tayla, and Sloan; siblings, Merle Theilen, Lois Selinger, Barbara Theilen, Linda (husband, Kenneth) Allen, Roger Theilen, Joyce (husband, Ken) Boehme, and Larry (Barbie) Theilen; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 18, 2013, at McCullough-Delaney & Butler Funeral Home, 714 E. Gibson St., New Berlin.

Funeral Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at McCullough-Delaney & Butler Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Woodwreath Cemetery in New Berlin, with Rev. Dan Eggold officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to: Woodwreath Cemetery, c/o Warren-Boynton State Bank, 702 W. Illinois St., New Berlin, IL 62670.
