Betty E. Geist
SPRINGFIELD, IL - Betty E. Geist, 87, of Springfield, died at 2:25 a.m., Wednesday, January 1, 2014, at St. John's Hospice. She was born October 3, 1926, in Springfield, Illinois, to Robert I. and Elma E. Marshall Williams. She married Robert L. Geist on February 3, 1951, and he preceded her in death on March 3, 1994.
She is survived by four daughters, Kathleen (Robert) Hermon of Pleasant Plains, Janet (Gene) Tannehill of Springfield, Sandra Sunley of Springfield, and Lisa (Chris) Schafer of Springfield; five sons, Daniel (Elaine) Geist of Springfield, Tim (Carol) Geist of Springfield, Jeff Geist of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Kevin (Karen) Geist of Riverton, and Steve (Faye) Geist of Pleasant Plains; nineteen grandchildren; twenty great- grandchildren; one sister, Judy (Glen) Osborne of Decatur; two brothers, Boyd (Rose) Williams and Bill (Fran) Williams, both of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her parents and husband preceded her in death.
Betty enjoyed sewing, crafting and bowling in her younger years. She was a member of DAV Auxiliary and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
She was a homemaker and had previously worked for the Shoe Factory.
Visitation: 4-7 p.m., Sunday, January 5, 2014, at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 12 p.m., Monday, January 6, 2014, at Staab Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Gifford officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Mrs. Geist was a wonderful lady. She will truly be missed. My fondest memory was picking the apples with her from her apple trees. I am a very blessed person for getting to grow up with her and her entire family. I love you all.
