I am the secretary at Benld Elementary where Damian substituted many times. What a warm-hearted, fun loving guy!! He would always come into the office and say "good morning sunshine". The staff at Benld enjoyed and respected Damian so much. The last time he worked at Benld (March 9) he came into the office and said that he felt like he was at home in Benld. He is Home now, and I will never forget his smile when he would come into the school. My prayers and thoughts are with Damian's family as well with the Bigham family. Heaven is a wonderful place and in God's hands they will wait for us.

What a tribute to the great people Damian and Kenny were. To see that many people in line to pay their respects shows how much they have contributed to everyones lives. The last time I spoke with Damian was when he was substituting for the preschool class my youngest was in. I think we laughed more than was appropriate while in the class. He made the class fun. My 11 year old daughter just loved Damian when he substituted for her class. She said that although she only had him one time, he was her favorite "sub". There is no doubt their lives ended too soon. Our thoughts and prayers are with your families. May your memories always make you smile like these great men would want.

Damian "Damie" was my best friend for 32 years. I met him when my mother and I moved to the house across the street from his family. He was like another son to my mom, doing any and everything she needed done, and he was like a big brother/best friend to me. Too often we take for granted that those friends will always be there, but it's times like this that we realize life is way too short! I'd give anything just to have one more chance to talk to Damie and tell him how very much I love him! Rest in peace, my dear friend!

Bernadine and family,
May the lord be with you all at your time of sorrow. We all thought the world of Damian. He was an awesome subsitute teacher when he worked in Benld where Abigail goes to school. I am so thankful that she got to know him before he was called to heaven. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

When I think of Damian I was pleased to have been his friend through my husband Todd. The stories and memories they have are precious and crazy. When Todd spoke of Damie you could tell he loved him like a brother and would do anything for him. Always when Damie and Todd saw each other Todd would give him a hug and said "Love ya Bud" Todd's heart aches for those days when things were so simple and all the fun times they had. It makes me feel good to have had the privelige to know Damie and come to love him as much as Todd did.

My heart goes out to you. Damien was a couple of years behind me at Mt. Olive High. I remember him well. He was too young to die. He was worth every tear that you cry.

I think of you often
as does everyone.
I see you in my dreams
always fleeting ones,
never staying long enough to say how I feel.
I see the twinkle in the depths of your eyes, reminding me of two stars in a midnight sky.
I hear your voice like the wind whispering through the trees.
Softly, but firmly, telling me to wake up and enjoy life--while I still have it--for I'll see you again in Heaven.

In My Pocket
I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.
