Daniel Knipfer Obituary
NEW BERLIN, IL - Daniel A. Knipfer, 57, of New Berlin died at 1:30 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 13, 2016, at St. John's Hospital.
He was born June 14, 1959, in Louisville, Ky., to Robert M. and Miriam K. Jones Knipfer. He married Shonte' Rudolph on Oct. 29, 1988, and she survives.
Other survivors include five children: Rachel of Florida, Andrew of Springfield, Camron, Collin and Cadence, all of New Berlin; mother, Miriam Knipfer of Springfield; five siblings: Gwen (Michael), Timothy (Tammy), Barbara, Anthony (Brandi) and Mark (Nanci); and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Daniel was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was a foster parent and a great family man.
He spent many years following the Grateful Dead and was an avid sports fan of the Cincinnati Reds, Cleveland Browns, and his children's sports teams.
He was a pressman at the State Journal-Register for many years as well as several private print shops. He was currently an associate at Sears.
Visitation: 9:00-10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2016, at First United Methodist Church.
Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2016, at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Roger Ross officiating.
Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Buckhart.
Memorial contributions may be made to: Family Service Center, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, American Heart Association, or First United Methodist Church.

BIG DAN..A few years ago we had the pleasure, of having Dan and his good wife come to Asheville to visit our home. We cherish that time of good fun and laughter. Dan called back and said he loved meeting me and going to the Biltmore house. Big Dan and shont,e are so sweet and the most generess people I ever met in my life. Gwen would talk to Dan a couple times a month.She had a special relationship with Dan. I will always feel his love...P.S...if you had a friend like Dan you had him forever..I will miss and love him forever..his brother..Michael kanipe..Gwen and Mike

Shonte', Rachel, and Andrew- I am so sorry of the passing of a GREAT husband and father. Everyone that knew him knew how much he loved his family and was the nicest guys out there. He will definitely be missed by MANY! I didn't see him as much as I would have liked since graduating HS but anytime we saw him we just picked up where we left off. We always chit chatted at the kids games and I am really going to miss it! You have a guardian angel watching over you now. Love you guys!

Shonte...my heart breaks for you and your family. I always admired the relationship you and Dan had with each other. You were not just a married couple, you were the best of friends. He will leave behind a legacy of loving God, his family, animals, and children. He had a great sense of humor and was always there to help someone in need...the world was a good place with him in it - it is a loss for all. He will be missed...Love and sympathy to you and your family.

I was shocked & saddened to hear about our "Lieutenant " Dan. He was a joy to work with at the SJR, and a great pressman.
I knew Dan years before the SJR; I think I was 19 when I first met him at our old "watering hole", and hadn't seen him in years before he started working with us.
God bless you & your family, Shonte', and I believe I can say that all of us from the pressroom are thinking of you at this difficult time. He will truly be missed.
