SPRINGFIELD - DeVante L. Green, 15, of Springfield died Monday, Feb. 2, 2009, at St. John's Hospital.
He was born May 3, 1993, in Springfield, the son of Vera M. Brooks and James H. Green Sr.
DeVante was a sophomore student at Springfield High School.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Green Sr., and grandfather, Willie Johnson.
He is survived by his mother, Vera Brooks of Springfield; grandmothers, Margaret Johnson and Alice Stapleton, both of Springfield; six sisters, Jacqueline and Stacy Watson, Tillwanna and Sheneatha Green, Chrissy Carol and Shyneice Brooks, all of Springfield; four brothers, DeJuan Green, Cedrick Joiner and Detrick and James Green; a niece, Ashley Watson; four nephews, Derrick Watson, Don and DeAndre Criss and Tahj Trotter, all of Springfield; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009, at New Hope Baptist Church, with the Rev. Minnie Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
James D. Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
