Donald V. Davidson 1934 - 2017
Springfield, IL—Donald V. Davidson, 82, of Springfield, died at 11:15 a.m., Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. He was born November 26, 1934 in Jacksonville, to Edwin V. and Josephine Dodds Davidson. He married Mary Ann Kirtlink on April 17, 1960 and she survives.
Also surviving are one daughter Cynthia (John) Dyer of Bluff City, TN; one son, Steve (Tiffany) Davidson of Springfield; one granddaughter, Rachel; two sisters, Virginia (Robert) Bennett of Bonne Terre, MO and Kay (Don) Reed of Joplin, MO; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and his grand dog, Moxsie.He was preceded in death by his parents.
Donald was a US Army Reserve Staff Sargent. He worked for IDOT for thirty-six years.
He was a member of South Side Christian Church since 1960. He was an avid Illini Basketball fan and enjoyed the White Sox and the Cubs and working in his yard.
Memorial Gathering: 9 – 11 A.M., Monday, September 18, 2017 at South Side Christian Church.
Memorial Service:11 A.M., Monday, September 18, 2017 at South Side Christian Church, with Pastor Brooks Wilson officiating.
Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to South Side Christian Church, 2600 South MacArthur Blvd, Springfield, IL 62704 or to Inner City Mission, 714 North 7th Street, Springfield, Illinois 62702.
