Elmer Farris Obituary
Port Charlotte, FL—Elmer Edward ( Doc) Farris JR, 73 has passed away on November 5, 2017 at Faucet Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents Elmer Edward Farris and Loretta Mary Farris ( McGlen) and grandparents Nelly and Fred Farris and John and Elizabeth Mary McGlen.
Surviving are sons Daniel Edward ( Danielle ) ,( Springfield) Michael Andrew ( Felicia ) ( Punta Gorda, FL), girlfriend Tracy Scott, ex wife Mary Ann , sister Patricia Baskosky( Steve) brother Jim ( Sandy) Farris of Rochester, sisters Mary Beth (Sphar) Messa Arizona, Vicki Cave ( Dennis) Rochester . Also
surviving are 6 grandchildren Zachary, Nicholas, Ruby, Maxwell ( Springfield IL ) Jacob and Joshua ( Punta Gorda, FL)several nieces and nephews as well as many friends especially those from the drag racing circuit a sport he truly loved.
He retired from AT&T after 36 years of service and he served 6 years in the Army National Guard in Springfield. He was enjoying retirement in the Florida sunshine. A celebration of life will be held at The Anchor Boat Club , 407 E Lake Shore Dr, Springfield IL on Saturday , November 25, 2017, 2-5 p.m.

Sorry to hear about Docs passing, had not seen him sense he moved to fl. He helped me build my first motor for drag racing back in the early seventies, spent many a days and nights in his garage on East Lake Dr. and at Drag City. Sure will miss him. Dave

So many good memories of the Farris family, drag racing days, and Bible studies with so many of their close friends who were drawn in through Doc's genuine heart-felt interest in the Word of God. We will cherish our memories of Doc.
