James Pratte Obituary
Springfield, IL—James William Pratte, 85, of Pawnee, died at 10:32 pm, Saturday, September 16, 2017 at St. John's hospital. He was born May 1, 1932 in East St. Louis, MO, to Homer P. and Velma B. McPhail Pratte. He married Lillian M. Hunter on November 10, 1951 and she survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Janice M. Owen of Lakewood, CO; two grandchildren, Jennifer M. Taylor of Lakewood, CO and Joseph A. Owen of Fort Collins, CO; two sisters, Dorothy M. Leezy of Florida and Betty L. Haffner of Chicago; four nieces, Diana (Jerry) Pittro, Velma (Ken) Sudduth, Nancy McCarrel and Debbie (Dan) Kerhlikar and two nephews, Shell (Lori) Haffner and Gary (Betty) McCarrel.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
James was a US Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He was a member of the ELKS Club, Sangamo Surf Club and enjoyed playing golf and spending time with family and friends.
He retired from the Army National Guard and Illinois Bell Telephone Company.
Visitation: 11 am – 1 pm, Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home-Springfield.
Funeral Service: 1 pm, Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home-Springfield. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted.
Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans.
