John was one of the happiest guys I knew-even though I didn't know him very well. When I worked at Dairy Queen, he would always come in with a big smile on his face, have something funny to say, and I would always hear him laughing when he was joking with the guys. So sorry for your loss and you will be in my prayers.

I am so shocked and sad to hear this news. My family lived next door to John, Dorothy, Brenda, Johnny, and Todd for many, many years up until my Mom sold her house last year. He was a great neighbor in many ways; and even though our family doesn't live in Virden now, we all feel the loss. I hope my Dad was waiting for him at Heaven's door so they can be neighbors again.

Dorothy, I was thinking of John just a couple days ago and remembering the good times we had golfing together back in the early '60s. Seems like the only time I got to see him during the past few years was when I came back to Virden to attend a funeral. I'll always remember that big grin, solid handshake and his warm friendship. I know you'll miss him in a big way.

I am so sorry to hear of John's passing. I moved in next door to the Crocks this past summer. He was the first in the neighborhood to welcome me and continued to be friendly and helpful. This fall I had the pleasure
of making him some fried green tomatoes from his garden. He was a sweet and kind man. I will miss him.
