John Greenan Obituary
Springfield, IL—Jack Greenan, 81, of Springfield, passed away at 12:40 p.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2018.
Jack was born on January 10, 1937, in Taylorville, Illinois, the son of William and Juanita Greenan. He married Marie Sgro on June 23, 1957, in Springfield. Jack was a 1955 graduate of Taylorville High School. He had a 30-year career with the Illinois State Police, working first on the Chicago expressways and then returning to central Illinois to work in the Springfield area. He retired as a Lieutenant, directing State Police operations in Litchfield. Jack was a dedicated police officer and lifelong member of the Illinois Police Association and the Fraternal Order of Police.
Jack is survived by his wife, Marie, of 61 years; three children, John (Ellen) Greenan II of Petersburg, Jeffrey (Carol) Greenan of St. Peters, Missouri and Jean (Karl) Becker of Springfield; six grandchildren, Rebecca, Kimberly, and DanielGreenan; Noah and Isaac Becker; Chelsea Greenan; and sister Sheila (Lyndell) Durham.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mary Ginoli, Shirley Day, Carole Calvert, and Joanne Greenan; and brothers Billand Mick Greenan.
In accordance with Jack's wishes, the family will conduct a private service at Calvary Cemetery in Springfield.
